Is the HR Semi-Monthly payroll ready to run?
DNC EBS Assistant
Not yet. Errors to fix first:
  • Error667 employees haven’t submitted a timecard, across 114 supervisors
  • Error1 assignment has no federal tax record, and 1 no state tax record
  • Warning1 retro pay case is still waiting
Want the names behind any of these?
Approve the NACHA payment release for me.
DNC EBS Assistant
I can’t do that. I can’t approve or submit anything in EBS, and a payment release needs two different people.
Condensed from real answers on DNC’s Oracle EBS demonstration system, using Oracle’s Vision sample data.
The problem

Payroll runs on questions.

In the days before every run, the same questions land on the few people who know where to look in EBS. Each one is a form to open, a query to run, or a message to send.

“What’s still open for this payroll?”
Asked by the payroll manager
“Who hasn’t submitted a timecard?”
Asked by supervisors and timekeepers
“Is anyone missing a tax record?”
Asked just before the run, if at all
“Which step are we waiting on, and who has it?”
Asked by finance and HR leaders

When the answer comes late, the run goes out wrong and gets fixed afterward. DNC EBS Assistant answers these in Teams, in seconds, from your own EBS, so the people who know payroll spend their time on payroll.

Payroll Attendant

Know what’s open, and what will make the run wrong, before it runs.

Attendants are what you subscribe to, one for each area of EBS. The Payroll Attendant is the first, and it’s available now.

Checklist

Available now

Where your payroll checklist runs in EBS, ask about it the way you’d ask a colleague.

  • “What’s still open?”
  • “What’s blocking the next step?”
  • “Who is that step waiting on?”
  • “Which runs are in progress?”

Precheck

Available now

Before a payroll runs, Precheck finds what will make the run wrong. Errors come first, then warnings, and it names the people and their supervisors.

  • ErrorMissing timecards
  • ErrorMissing federal or state tax records
  • WarningRetro pay pending
  • WarningUnapproved timecards
  • WarningElement entry batches not yet transferred
Coming next

Timecard follow-ups. Reminders by Teams chat to the people a timecard is waiting on, with each batch approved by the payroll lead. Oracle Time and Labor first, then ADP.

Payment Integrity Scan
New: ask about a pilot

Fixed rules that find payments and changes needing a second look.

Each rule runs inside your database and returns findings, never values. Every finding reads “needs review”, and goes to someone independent of the work.

29fixed rules across five areas
  • Payroll staffChanges staff make to their own pay records
  • Employee paymentsPayment changes and payments that need a second look
  • Third-party payeesPayee changes made close to a payment
  • PayablesSupplier and invoice activity that needs a second look
  • Suppliers matching employeesSupplier details that match an employee’s

Safeguards

  • Findings only, never values: no bank account numbers, tax IDs, addresses or pay amounts.
  • In private chats, nobody sees a finding about themselves, and findings involving payroll, HR or Payables staff go only to an independent audit group.

The assistant explains each finding and answers your reviewer’s questions. The rules, not the assistant, decide what’s flagged.

What’s the new payroll finding from this morning?
DNC EBS Assistant
One finding needs review. A fixed rule matched a change to a payroll staff member’s own pay record, entered by that same person. It doesn’t say anything is wrong; it says a second person should look.

Want the history of that record, and who entered what, when?

Illustration of the assistant’s role. Names and details are left out.

The Attendant lineup

One assistant. An Attendant for each part of EBS.

Start with payroll and add Attendants when you’re ready. They’re not separate bots: one assistant, one Teams app, more it can answer.

How it connects

Built for the security review.

A small DNC agent inside your network makes one outbound, encrypted connection to DNC. No inbound ports are opened. Answers are written by an AI model (Anthropic) from the lookup results.

Do we have to open a firewall port?

No inbound ports. You add one outbound rule, to a single DNC address.

Is AI involved?

Yes. Answers are written by an AI model (Anthropic) from the lookup results. It receives names and statuses, never bank, tax or pay values.

What can the agent actually run?

Only fixed lookups signed by DNC and approved by you. It can’t run anything else.

What data leaves our network?

You approve which classes of data leave. Bank numbers and national IDs never do.

Can it change anything in EBS?

No. It’s read-only. It can’t approve or record anything, and it won’t give pay amounts or bank details, however it’s asked.

How do we see what it’s doing?

A local audit log in your network records every lookup the agent runs. Your security team reads it.

Who can use it?

You choose. The assistant refuses anyone not on your list.

Proof

Tested against the database it answers from.

It’s built to Oracle’s EBS 12.2 integration guidance, and checked with Oracle’s own code and online-patching compliance tools.
